The Writer’s Lab

The Writer’s Lab is the flagship development initiative of our theater and film company; an elite, invitation-only cohort designed for serious writers prepared to create at a professional level.

 This is a curated incubator where original work moves from draft to production. Each semester, a small, highly selective group of writers develops new, original works for stage and screen within a rigorous, production-driven environment. The Lab functions as both an artistic conservatory and a professional launch platform, where disciplined craft meets real industry opportunity. 

What Makes This Different

Admission is by invitation or referral only. We are building a cohort of writers operating at a professional standard; individuals prepared for intensive development, critical discourse, and production-readiness.

New Works Incubator & Production Track

The Lab serves as a core source of new material for our production slate. Exceptional works may advance into active development for:

Writers retain authorship and writing credit, with structured pathways toward professional production and collaboration.

Blue Pearl Theatrics’ Writers Lab and Studio Incubators are exclusive, invitation-only programs for serious playwrights and screenwriters ready to develop original work to professional standards. Admission is highly selective, designed for conservatory-trained artists, current students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals prepared for an intensive, production-driven experience.

Application Timeline

· Open Submissions: March 1 – May 15

· Review & Selection: May 16 – June 15

· Notification & Enrollment: June 16 – June 30

· Deposit Due: July 15

· Balance Due: August 15

· Semester Begins: September 9th, 2026 - January 27, 2027

Applications include:

· Writing samples (plays, screenplays, or other narrative work)

· Statement of artistic intent or vision

· Resume / CV highlighting professional or academic experience

Admission is by invitation or referral only, ensuring that every participant is ready for rigorous mentorship, critical feedback, and professional-level development. Selected writers join a curated cohort where work is positioned for stage, film, and streaming production.

Tuition & Investment: 

Tuition for the semester is $5,500. This fee provides access to the full range of the Writers Lab experience, including personalized mentorship, production-focused workshops, and connections to industry professionals. It also supports the development of original works for stage, film, and streaming within a rigorous, professional environment.
